New Start

Volleyball is off to a great start. With the season undertow, the girl’s volleyball team is ready to rock. The girls held their first two league matches at home. The first match was against Gold Beach High School, while the second was against Myrtle Point High School. And their first away game was at Cascade Christian on September 22nd
The junior varsity kicked off their season with a bang. On September 15th, Tuesday of last week, the J.V. girls started their match against Gold Beach at 5pm. The Tigers lost the first set to their Panthers. But they pulled ahead and won the last two sets, leading them to victory. After the J.V. game ended, the varsity girls took over the court. They started out with a rough beginning. Not wanting to lose their first match, the players pulled ahead and won the last three sets.
On September 17th the Tigers had their second match of the season against Myrtle Point. The J.V. match was almost like a repeat of Tuesday’s game. The first set went to the Bobcats. The Tigers won the second and third set, bringing them to their second win. Afterwards, the varsity girls began their match. They roughed it out and won the first two sets. But after many close calls, Myrtle Point won the last three sets, taking away the Tigers win.
This week on Tuesday, the tiger volleyball team had their first away game at Cascade Christian. The girls had a long drive in excruciating heat. When they got there, the J.V. girls were the first up to rally against the Challengers. Sadly, the J.V. girls lost the first two sets, their first loss. Next up was the varsity girls. The first two sets unwillingly went to the Challengers. Not wanting the match to end so soon, the Tigers pulled ahead and won the third set. The fourth set went to the Challengers after many intense rallies, causing the Tigers to lose their second match
Though the Tigers haven’t won all of their matches, they are still strong. Each player has amazing talent, but each one still different than the others. Go to their games and watch the girls. Cheer them on, because your presence really does make a difference.

Love Lost in High School

Seems like almost everywhere you look you see a couple holding hands, or stuck in each other’s arms. And even though the school highly “frowns” upon public displays of affection, couples still sneak in a couple kisses here or there. Sometimes seeing all of the “lovey dovey” stuff can make a person sick.
But, are relationships in high school really the real deal? Most teens have probably already declared their love to someone. And after a while, their relationship has come to an end. Don’t get me wrong. There are couples who have lasted through high school and made it into the marriage life. Not every couple makes it though.
To me, some teens seem like they will do anything to get that feeling of being loved. So they will look in the wrong direction, or lower their standards to date about almost anyone. Sometimes, teens date someone they hardly even know. That is just a tad bit desperate.
I’m not trying to tell you to stay away from dating all together. Dating someone can be fun. It also helps prepare us for dating in the real world. Nobody wants to get into the game without the practice first. Just don’t practice too much.
So my advice to you, my fellow classmates, is to not get so serious about love right now. This is only high school. After this, we all will go off to find bigger and better places. You might find your soul mate here. But the chances are that will probably never happen. Just go with the flow and have fun. High School is only a tiny step into the real world.

Support the Volleyball Team

Have you seen a volleyball decal on a back of a car? Did you ever wonder what it was? To help with your curiosity, I’ll tell you what they are. They are decals to support the Tiger girls volleyball team.
The decal’s cost $10 each. They have a white volleyball in the center with the words “Bandon High School Volleyball. Proud Supporter” in a black font wrapped around it. The background for the decal is clear.
The price may seem a little steep. But the profit is for a good cause. The money will go into the volleyball fund to help pay for camp next year. The girls who went this year all say it was an amazing experience and they have learned so much.
Don’t be afraid to ask a volleyball player for a decal, preferably the one writing this amazing article for you. Even if you don’t own a car, you can find a place for the decal. You can put it on your bike, your skateboard, your binder, or maybe even on your house window. Hurry up and ask any player. The sale won’t go on for forever.
