Dancing Queens

The dance team officially has their dancers. On November 13, dance tryouts were held in the BHS cafeteria. All the girls performed two dances they learned that week. With a partner, the girls danced to “Diva”, worked on their kick line, and showed off their toe touches. One partner would be asked to leave the room while the other would dance “Candyman” with the opening they choreographed.
This year the captain of the team is senior Alissa Taylor. She has been on the dance team for four years, and proven that she has the leadership the team needs. Co-captain is sophomore Jordan Chandler. This will be her second year on dance team. It is Jordan’s second year of dance, and cheerleading
When asked about the dance team, Jordan was happy to tell all. “I am very excited for the theme this year. I am a huge fan of the 40’s and big band stuff,” She shared with me. “I actually let Ms. June borrow a couple of my CD’s actually.”
Jordan also told me about her most memorable dance team moment.
“It was our first competition and we were performing our routine for the first time last year. Our scores were high enough to take us to state. Ms. June and Gina were crying. The judges actually talked to us afterwards. It was so nerve wracking, but all of their feedback was positive.”
The dance team will perform during half times of the varsity basketball games. They don’t perform at every game, just certain ones. Don’t miss out on watching them. You’ll regret it if you do.
