Volleyball Almost Makes State Tournament

For six years, the Tiger volleyball team has been trying to make it to state. Each year they set their sights on traveling outside of the league to become number one. This year, the girls almost made their wish.
Right after school on Friday November, 6, the volleyball girls rushed into their two cars and headed out to Eugene. In Eugene, the girls stayed the night in the Hilton. After having breakfast at Elmer’s the next day, the girls traveled the last stretch to Sheridan High School.
The Sheridan girl’s placed 1st last year for 3A state championships, but the tiger girls were not scared. The girls pulled themselves together after their long ride and took the first set, but that was their only win of the night. When the second set came around the girls tried to out scrap the other team.
The second and third set was a major disappointment to the team and the Bandon fans. During the fourth game the girls tried their hardest to make it to a fifth game. They worked hard and picked up almost every ball hit at them, but the win still landed to Sheridan.
In the locker room the senior girls couldn’t hide their feelings for their last game. Some players shed some tears, while others made speeches on how this isn’t the end. The varsity girls joined together to do their last cheer, cheering “Bandon” for all to hear.
Blood, sweat, and tears were put into the girl’s performance this year. They might have had some bad days, and times where nobody thought that they could make it. The volleyball team wanted to show them otherwise, but the wins were not for the fans. The wins were for the team. They wanted to prove to themselves that they have what it takes to be number one. Even though the girls did not make it to first place, they still proved that they are the best.
